    Late night? No idea.

    Saturday:
    Morning, no idea.
    1 PM - 6PM - Wedding/Reception

10:30 PM - Zumanity (discounted cheap seat tickets $50) at New York New York

Sadness: They removed my High Roller Coaster from the Stratosphere in 2006
Gian has no fondness for "drop" rides so the Supreme Scream-like Big Shot is out.
Insanity looks like too much, even for me. While this does make me perversely want to do it for that reason, the body weight resting on and reliance on the harness is something Gian does not do.
X Scream is a giant see-saw, so you can look over the edge. This does not really impress me.

Stuff I kind of would like to do in Vegas
    Food:
    Mad Greek (en route)
    Four Kegs Sports Pub (Calzone)
    Haufbrau House
    Buffet(s)

    Shows:
    Say Goodnight, Gracie
    Zumanity

    Free:
    Bellagio Fountains
    Freemont Street Experience
Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden
    Centaur Art Gallery

    Cheap:
    Gondola ride at the Venitian

    Pricey:
    Zumanity
Star Trek Experience (This is TOO expensive and is probably off the list)

For my nearest and dearest who will be there, thoughts, feelings, input, or adjustments?

What do you do when someone abandons a Dog on your property?
Well- if you are a dog person, you take her to get fixed, get her shots and call everyone and every rescue group you know to see who would like an adorable ten month old puppy.

*Cross-posted like crazy- please repost in any place you feel is appropriate*

That being said- here is the story:

About ten days ago- between the hours of 6pm and10pm, someone tied this puppy

to a tree at the curb in front of my house in Reseda. When my girlfriend went out to her car later that night, she thought there was a strange dog weaving around behind her car.

I went out front with a flashlight and sure enough, there was.

But she wasn't weaving because she was sick, she was desperately trying to hide behind a car and the curb, and she couldn't get away because she was abandoned, choke-chained and wired to the tree with about six feet of chain and heavy gauge wire

She was scared, she was submissive and she was dirty from hiding in the street.

We disconnected her from the tree and used calm and soothing tones to get her in to the yard, on to the porch, in to the house and eventually in to a crate. We fed her, watered her, bathed her, flea treated her and yesterday went to a vet and got her spayed.

She gets along fabulously with my other dog and he's old and somewhat cranky (as am I upon occasion). She's a total sweetheart. She just wants to be around people. She's got her nose in my feet right now. She snuggly and happy and knows "Sit". She is a really sweet nice dog.

I can't have another dog. I just can't. It's not fair to my room mates and frankly, one dog is enough for me.

Someone took this sweet puppy and abandoned her. I would like to find her a home. I've called about 20 rescues and no one has room. The attitude seems to be if she's not in the pound about to die, they don't want to hear about it.

So- if you or someone you know is looking for a housebroken, sweet 40 pound girl puppy (that's been spayed and vaccinated) that is about ten months old and is not expected to get any bigger, please reply here or contact me at my email address

If you also know of a rescue that has room or of a nice no-kill shelter in Los Angeles (and I MEAN no Kill, part and parcel to being a dog person is that I will not send her in to a situation where she might get put down or worse, thrown in to a dog fight as bait- *shudder*), please also send me any links or information here.

    jonathan_reilly@yahoo.com

They can also call my cell at 818 825 4250.

I'm in the Valley and there is someone home most of the time so you can meet her.

wind spiders......... more so baby Kamikazi spiders
The tiny spiders that have been blowing across the office make my heart flutter and wonder in amazement.
    They are pencil dot small.
I think they came in with the roses Mr. J picked me.
It is like watching the period key on my black key board, with white letters walk among the keys.
I keep lifting them off and placing them back on the peddles.
I bet they are hungry, there are not any bugs in this room.
I have been watching one bungy cord off a single piece of cat hair that has attached itself to the top of a pen sticking out of a canister on the desk.
Can you imagine being held up by static?

It is summer... happy baby spider season...
and spiders in my home are welcome.
I use to have a rule about not removing webs above the curtains...

This house has about three times more spiders than my last home.
I think that I have only flushed one, because it was a large (golf ball sized) hobo spider, and I did not want the cats to get bit, chasing or eating it.

I am slow to move today. The rain is peaceful and my bed was far to comfortable.

    Comic-Con?
I dunno...the only thing I would be kinda stoked about doing there is checking out Weta. I did most of everything else I needed last year. Other than that it would just be networking to find out what people from the bay area that are there will be up to in August (22nd weekend) when I will be in the bay area for the weekend. Get some coffee and whatnot or something with one of them's.

    Other news:

Stone Brewery's restaurant/outside area is absolutely gorgeous! It's so pristine when I walked in I felt like I was about to get on a ride at Disneyland at the other end. Beautiful landscaping and koi fish and frogs and ponds and fountains and bridges and vines and banatrees and the inside of the place is WOW to boot. You can see the whole brewing process from the round bar. One ginormous glass wall to look in.

Wednesday nights they do free movie showings on the lawn/garden/resort(!?) apparently. Tonight's feature was Napolean Dynamite. Next week Blazing Saddles. 2 weeks from now El Mariachi. I so have a new place to hang 5 minutes from my place. Awesome.

    Me and Dr. Stew:

    Pam and Stewart

I know. It's distressing that I have to wear a sweater in July. Most Korean women must love it though because they're terrified of getting freckles, putting on SPF 50 every day. This is a picture of when I first yoinked him out of the box on the street.

I must say that the injections are bringing stuart back to his normal self and hes even starting to eat solid food, which he'll do on his own now but I used to have to put it on my finger. Like when I was teaching him that it was good to poo and scratchin' in his litterbox. It's humiliating, but that miming shit really does work. Compared to a lot of my ESL students, Stewart is a genius. I've got kids going into second grade who can't tie their own shoes. WTF is that. Also, a lot of my student's knowledge is really unbalanced. Like, my kindergarten kids speak Englsh really well. "Teacher! Chickens have the Avian Influenza!" But they can't walk in a straight line and often fall out of their chairs and bash into things.

Anyway, Stewart is TOTALLY gonna make it because 1. he's awesome and 2. he thinks he's a tank. He's always trying to dive straight into danger.

    4th?
Anything going on on the 4th? BBQ's, pool parties, etc?

I've got four days off, sucka and I'm not afraid to use them. The beach is good, but Mindy's not going in to the water- sharks will eat her. Or she'll get an ear infection. It's just the way of things.

Barring anything spectacular (and I'm not going to the 4th of JuPlaya), I'll just have another Sci Fi Friday. Maybe we'll watch Team America (Fuck YEAH!) or the like.

    Dunno.

    stuart (stewart?) updates etc

so i took him to a vet... hes gonna be okay. apparently he's making the transition from milk to solid food and needs to get over being bottle fed and start chewin' like a real man. Also the doctor gave him some dehydration injections like you said he would on an earlier post. Also he didn't charge me. Do vets in the states usually work for free?

The first lady in the vet was WAY into stuart. I could understand that the Vet told her I found him on the street and she was surprised at how cute and pretty he was (because ol' Pam is on the helm!!). But the second lady there was offended by Stu's presence. Stu came over to say Hi and she recoiled in horror, protecting her little toy shitasshole dog. How someone could be so offended by the existance of an infantile little stu is beyond me. I never liked those small dogs because of how dunce they seem to be, but now its a war between me and their owners. Me and my punk rock kitten I FOUND. We're makin' it together and we call nobody Mister. And on the other side are the smug little Jimmy Choo wearing perma-dieting receptionist shitzu owning motherfuckers.

Anyway the doctor reckons Stewart is going to make it through his sickness as long as I come in for a brief injection of fluids during it. Clearly Stewart is a hearty dude who would be ruling the streets if I left him out there, but its just as well for Stu that he's living in my pad because its a jungle in there too.

In other news, I'm looking forward to worrying less  and sleeping more. My gynocologist told me that he hopes I'll come back to Korea when my contract is finished, which I found odd. He's looked deep into my disturbed hwahhooo far more often than any one human should and he has somehow formed a favorable opinion of me. I'm not sure what to think of that.

    sad
I just wrote a really long entry and it didn't happen... well, long story short, I think Stuart has distemper. He's in my bathroom vomiting with diahhrea.

I was so proud of him because he seemed to be thriving!! He had gone from no energy to tons, was eating, drinking, and playing and meowing with tons of gusto. Right when I was patting myself on the back...

... He had a shit. Only he was covered in it. It was everywhere, all over his fur and paws, being tracked around my bathroom. I knew this was not a normal thing and so I tried to wipe it off.

Because there was so much it turned into a little bit of a bath. Not a bath bath, but a pretty wet wipedown. He was cold of course, and I panicked and rushed to warm him up and dry him.

At the time I was convinced I had killed Stuart. But looking back, and after doing some internet research, I see that it probably has very little to do with that bath. He continued to have diahhrea and vomited-- a lot. He continuously vomited and his demeanor changed. He was no longer happy and playful and loud. He was sleepy and quiet. Too sleepy.

I kept him warm and held him close against me, but he kept waking up to vomit. The pain of watching him be sick got to be too much after hours of panicking and sobbing. I took some sleeping pills and went here, to the PC bang.

After some research, I saw that the symptoms line up perfectly with Feline distemper. He apparently only has a 10% chance of surviving this, but if he does, he'll be immune for life.

It's been a long time now, and I can't say that I'm prepared to say goodbye to Stuart. I love him. But after a while here, I'm starting to calm down and mentally prepare myself for the possibility that Stuart won't make it.

I tried my best. I made a lot of mistakes, but I really loved Stuart and I think, for a while, Stuart was actually getting a lot healthier. Who knows if I could have prevented this. It could be my fault, and I could be mentally beating myself up for nothing. The fact is Stuart was a wonderful little friend to have in my life, even if only for a few days. I really love him, and I hope that he's okay and we can try to make it to at least 8 weeks.

I am super groggy after a morning chock full of irony. First of all, the damned kitty was meowing all last night. He had his first poo, and while I'm quite proud of him, it super freaked him out and he couldn't sleep. I moved him back to the bathroom this morning, which he likes and keeps him calm. However, its really inconvienent. In Korea the shower area isn't separate from everything else, so EVERYTHING gets wet in the bathroom. I'll have to move all of Stewart's stuff every day while I shower. Inevitably bits of gravel will drop. As if I don't have enough to clean up.

I got the biopsy results back and I'm fine. I don't have cancer, or even scary cells. But the biopsy site is a bit infected, which is a nice bonus prize on top of the money I paid for all the trouble.

Anyway, Stewart is kinda giving me something to freak out about, which keeps me from worrying about myself. And he's loveable despite the fact that he's a noisy little tard with sharp things on his feets. And once you figure out that he's scared of his own poo or he's hungry, he'll stop meowing for maybe 10 seconds, which is nice.

B came over last night. Things hadn't been so easy between us for a couple of weekends, but he was really really sweet last night. I was really terrified that the incessant meowing would stress him out to the brink, resulting in a  stress-fest to the max. However, he was able to get to sleep and very kind to me in the morning, even sympathetic. I suppose I shouldn't underestimate those closest to me. And after a sleeping pill, some earplugs, and a jacket and shirt to simulate a blanket, I managed to get a few hours of shut eye as well. But please, I beg of you, if you are reading this, do not contact me until Friday night, because I am crankier than Satan sitting on tacks and I will bite your head off.

    U-pick * raspberries * fieldtrip... literally
    Berry Patch 27010 78th Ave. S. in Kent, 206-963-5079.

I think this will be our plan for the second Saturday in July. That is the 12th.
I plan on bringing a bucket, some cold drinks, a snack, and super GOTH sunblock.
I plan on wearing long sleeves and gloves, a wide brimmed hat, garden shoes, and rockstar sunglasses.
    Anyone up for an adventure?

My Raspberry Testimonial: I froze fresh raspberries last year, and finished them in the end of spring this year. They were amazing in scones, (if baked while frozen they do not explode into the colored hole left in your scone). We put them in lemon-aide, salads, and ate them on hot oatmeal. They only take seconds to thaw, and make the world of difference in tumble weed salads.

Free Recycling for Apartment Dwellers in LA!
Unbeknownst to many Angelenos, Los Angeles apartment-dwellers finally got their own recycling service in April. All multifamily residences -- including apartments, condos, town homes, and mobile home parks -- can now get blue bins!

The trick: The service is free, but you gotta ask for it. Either the tenant or the owner of the residence has to sign up.

So: Contact the L.A. Bureau of Sanitation by calling 800.773.2489, or e-mail multifamily@lacity.org. Have your contact info — as well as your building owner, property manager or condo association’s contact info — handy. Tell them you want blue bins. Once you sign up, you’ll get blue recycling bins and free weekly recycling service pickup.

This applies to the City of LA, as far as I know. If you live in a different municipality give them a call and find out if they offer apartment recycling!

    Saturday at the Library
I treated myself this Saturday to a subway trip down to the Los Angeles Central Library- downtown, baby!

So fantastic....It was like early morning paradise. Floors of books I was unable to find at any of my more local branches (the K-town one is really stinko.) A wonderful garden and cafe attached to the building, so you could read the fruits of the hunt while sipping coffee and listening to birdsong. Even looks like there is an small mini Getty art collection in there!

Anyway, I'm going back and think I might make it my unofficial weekend breakfast/coffee place. If you ever want to meet me on a Saturday, come on by!

    Two- no Three other things
    First other thing:

I'm having a blast in my weekly game. It's fun. We're almost done with our campaign and we're playing Star Wars: Saga edition next. I, specifically, am not allowed to play a Jedi. I'm okay with this. Jonathan playing a Jedi = Easy mode plus endless arguing over why one can't be a gray Jedi. A "Balance" Jedi and all that.

Second: After the game last night [info]op_lattethunder and I runnoft to see WALL-E. We both really liked it. It's as awesome as any other Pixar movie- which is to say, it's pretty goddamn awesome.

    Part the Third:

    My girlfriend rocks.

Okay- that's it. Off to work.

Oh- oh oh! Fourth thing- in case you all missed it because I posted it on Saturday:

Does anyone know anyone who is in the market to Adopt a puppy? We rescued an abandoned puppy last Monday and we're looking for a home for her. I neither want nor need another dog. I'm getting her spayed tomorrow or Wednesday along with all her shots.

She's house broken, good with other dogs, about ten months old, very submissive and if you leave bloody (raw) steak out where she can get to it, she hasn't been trained well enough not to grab it off the counter. At least not yet- (Sorry [info]eain!, I'll get more for you on the way home).

She's cute as a button and really really sweet.

But remember folks, She's a pit bull mix and as such is a vicious killer (Proof behind that link!)

If you know someone who is looking for a puppy, please send them my way. :)

as far as the usual gang of idiots is concerned, Rocky was a ghost town. there was a huge audience, as we've been getting lately, but so many people were missing, and I get the impression it was all for different reasons.

but Xach was called in as substitute emcee, and I knew this could mean a good show or a messy and unprofessional show, all resting on whether the audience liked him. he had a couple of audio things planned (only one of which actually ended up happening, but it was cool) and I wanted to make sure the energy was good and fresh, so I chose to deejay for the first time in 10 weeks.

it worked, the energy was high, and he did a fine job, and the show went very well, missing people notwithstanding. :)

oh and there was a group of PTA MILF friends who came in a stretch hummer limo all the way from Castaic for two of their birthdays. I am kicking myself for not talking to them sooner; they were cool, and stuck all the way at the back (which does just so not an immersive Rocky experience make), and I bet some of them had some cool old-school Rocky stories. and a few of them were cougar-hot, which is a nifty alternative element to encourage the profligration of into our crowd. I only talked to them toward the end of the movie, and the limo driver had already headed out to pull the car around. but I got to hang out in the limo for a few minutes, and they gave me a fugly fake boa I adore. :)

and I apologise to myself: I was rather remiss with the last three deejay sets, and I'm not sure I can recreate what they were. but here's mostly pretty much what I played last night.

    let-in:

    1. terry davies - human nature (tipping the velvet)
    2. the andrews sisters - strip polka
    3. chris rock - no sex in the champagne room
    4. lords of acid - am I sexy (austin powers)
    5. max entropy - short skirt, london bridge (fergie vs cake)
    6. bowling for soup - baby one more time
    7. gloria jones - tainted love
    8. moby - extreme ways
    9. group x - bang bang bang
    10. braces tower - eleven twelve (sesame street pinball number count hard remix)

    preshow:

    1. lard - they're coming to take me away
    2. lords of acid - am I sexy (austin powers)
    3. venetian snares - twelve (sesame street pinball number count techno-esque spin)

    let-out:

    1. venetian snares - twelve (sesame street pinball number count techno-esque spin)
    2. the sophisticates - buttfucked by the family dog
    3. disneyland closing spiel

I need some harder, higher-energy stuff. this was a good set, and it got the energy of the room in a good place, but it wasn't quite manic enough.

I'm just not listening to Indie 103.1 as much as I used to, now that I have a car stereo that plays algorithmically randomized mp3s from my huge collection. I only get new music when I happen to download something, and I only hear it when it happens to come up on the car player. which is often, because it favors newer acquisitions when it randomizes, but stuff still slips through.

upbeat happy sexy silly bouncy dancey musical suggestions welcome!

    beseeched, even.
